The Righteous Judge

Psalm Chapter 9

1

I will give
thanks to you,
Lord,

with
all my heart;

I will tell of
all your wonderful
deeds.

2

I will be glad
and rejoice in
you;

I will sing
the praises of
your name,

O Most High.

3

My enemies
turn back;

they stumble
and perish
before
you.

4
For you have

upheld

my right

and my cause,

 sitting

enthroned

as the righteous

judge.

5
You have rebuked

the nations

and

destroyed

the wicked;

you
have
blotted out
their name

for ever and ever.

6
Endless ruin
has overtaken
my enemies,

you have uprooted
their cities;

   even
the memory of them
has perished.

7
The Lord

reigns

forever;

he has established

his throne for

judgment.

8

He rules the world
in righteousness

and judges
the peoples

with

equity.

9

The Lord is
a refuge

for the oppressed,

a stronghold
in times of
trouble.

10

Those who know
your name

trust in you,

for you, Lord,

have never forsaken

those who

seek you.

11

Sing the praises
of the Lord,

enthroned
in Zion;

proclaim
among the nations
what he has
done.

12

For he who
avenges blood
remembers;

he

does not

ignore the cries of

the afflicted.

13

Lord,
see how my enemies
persecute
me!

Have mercy
and lift me up from
the gates of
death,

14

that I may
declare your
praises

in the gates of
Daughter Zion,

and there
rejoice in your
salvation.

15

The nations
have fallen into
the pit they have
dug;

their feet are
caught in the net
they have
hidden.

16

The Lord

is known by

his acts of justice;

the wicked are
ensnared by the work of
their hands.

17

The wicked

go down

to the realm

of the dead,

all the nations

that

forget

God.

18

But

God

will never forget
the needy;

the hope of
the afflicted

will never perish.

19

Arise, Lord,
do not let mortals
triumph;

let the nations
be judged in your
presence.

20

Strike them
with terror,
Lord;

let
the nations
know

they

are

only mortal.

1 John 4

On Denying the Incarnation

4

Dear friends,

do not believe
every spirit,

but
test the spirits
to see whether they are
from God,

because
many false prophets
have gone out into
the world.

2

This is how
you can recognize
the Spirit of
God:

Every spirit

that acknowledges

that Jesus Christ has come

in the flesh is

from God,

3

And

every spirit

that confesseth

not

that

Jesus Christ

is come in the flesh

is not

of God:

and
this is that

spirit of antichrist,

whereof ye have heard
that it should come;

and even now
already is it in
the world.

but every spirit
that does not acknowledge
Jesus is not from
God.

This is

the spirit

of the antichrist,

which
you have heard is
coming

and
even now is already
in the world.

4

You,
dear children,
are from God

and have
overcome them,

because

the one who is in you

is greater

than
the one
who is in the world.

5

They are from the world
and therefore speak from
the viewpoint of
the world,

and
the world
listens to them.

6

We are from God,

and
whoever knows
God

listens to us;

but
whoever is not
from God

does not

listen to us.

This is how we recognize

the Spirit of truth

and the spirit of

falsehood.

God’s Love and Ours

7

Dear friends,
let us love one another,

for love comes

from God.

Everyone
who loves has been
born of
God

and knows God.

8

Whoever
does not love

does not
know God,

because

God is love.

9

This is how
God showed
his love among
us:

He sent
his one and only
Son into the world

that we might
live through
him.

10

This is love:

not that we loved God,

but that he loved us

and sent his Son

as an atoning sacrifice

for our sins.

11

Dear friends,

since God so loved us,

we also ought to

love one another.

12

No one has ever seen God;

but if we love one another,

God lives in us

and his love is

made complete in us.

13

This is how we know

that we live in him

and he in us:

He has given us of

his Spirit.

14

And we have seen

and testify that

the Father has sent his Son

to be the Savior of

the world.

15

If
anyone
acknowledges
that

Jesus is the Son of God,

God lives in them

and they in God.

16

And so we know

and rely on the love

God has for us.

God is love.

Whoever lives in love

lives in God,

and God in them.

17

This is how
love is made complete
among us

so that we will have
confidence on the day
of judgment:

In this world
we are like Jesus.

18

There is no fear in love.

But perfect love

drives out fear,

because fear has to do

with punishment.

The one who fears is not

made perfect

in love.

19

We love

because he first loved us.

20

Whoever claims to love God

yet hates a brother

or sister is a liar.

For whoever
does not love
their brother and sister,
whom they have seen,

cannot love God,

whom
they have not
seen.

21

And he has given us
this command:

Anyone
who loves God
must also love their brother
and sister.

분별하라

예수를 시인하지 아니하는 영마다

하나님의 사랑이

우리에게 이렇게 나타난 바 되었으니

하나님이 자기의 독생자를

세상에 보내심은

그로 말미암아 우리를

살리려 하심이라

사랑은 여기 있으니

우리가 하나님을

사랑한 것이 아니요

하나님이 우리를 사랑하사

우리 죄를 속하기 위하여

화목 제물로 그 아들을 보내셨음이라

사랑하는 자들아

하나님이 이같이 우리를

사랑하셨은즉

어느 때나
하나님을 본 사람이
없으되

만일 우리가
서로 사랑하면

하나님이
우리 안에 거하시고

그의 성령을

두려움이 없고

두려움을 내쫓나니

두려움에는
형벌이 있음이라

두려워하는 자는

사랑 안에서

온전히 이루지
못하였느니라

그가 먼저 우리를 사랑하셨음이라

누구든지
하나님을 사랑하노라

그 형제를 미워하면

이는 거짓말하는 자니

If
anyone
teaches
otherwise

and
does not
agree

to
*the sound
instruction of
our Lord

Jesus Christ

and
to *godly
teaching,

they are
conceited

and
understand
nothing.

They have
an unhealthy
interest

in
controversies

and
quarrels about
words

that result

in envy,

strife,

malicious talk,

evil suspicions

and

constant
friction

between
people of corrupt
mind,

who have been

robbed of

the truth

and
who think

that

*godliness
is a means to
financial
gain.

But
*godliness with
contentment is
great gain.

7

For
we brought
nothing

into
the world,

and

we can
take nothing
out of it.

But

if
we have
food

and
clothing,

we will be
content with
that.

Those who
want to get
rich

fall
into
temptation

and a trap

and into many
foolish

and harmful
desires

that
plunge people
into ruin

and
destruction.

For
the love of
money

is

a
root of
all kinds of
evil.

Some people,
eager for
money,

have
wandered
from the
faith

and
pierced
themselves

with
many griefs.

Final Charge to Timothy

Zephaniah Chapter 3

Woe
to the city of
oppressors,

    rebellious

and

defiled!

She obeys
no one,

   she
accepts
no correction.

She
does not
trust in the

Lord,

  she
does not
draw near to
her

God.

Her
officials
within her
are

roaring lions;

her
rulers
are

evening wolves,

 who
leave
nothing for
the morning.

4

Her
prophets
are

unprincipled;

  they are
treacherou
people.

Her
priests
profane

the sanctuary

 and

do
violence

to the law.

The Lord
within her
is

righteous;

   he
does

no wrong.

Morning
by morning

he
dispenses

his justice,

  and

new day

does not
fail,

unrighteous

Jerusalem Remains Unrepentant

“I have
destroyed
nations;

   their
strongholds
are

demolished.

I
have
left their streets
deserted,

   with
no one passing
through.

cities are
laid waste;

   they are
deserted and
empty.

Of
Jerusalem
I thought,

   ‘Surely
you will fear
me

and
accept
correction!

Then

her
place of refuge
would not
be

destroyed,

nor

all my
punishments

come
upon her.

But

they
were
still eager to act

corruptly

in
all
they did.

Therefore
wait for
me,”

declares
the Lord,

   “for the day
I will stand up
to testify.

I
have
decided to
assemble

the nations,

to
gather
the kingdoms

and
to pour
out

my wrath

on them
all my fierce
anger.

The whole world
will be

consumed

 by
the fire of
my jealous
anger.

Restoration of Israel’s  Remnant

“Then
I will purify

the lips

of
the
peoples,

   that
all of them
may call on the
name of

the Lord

 and
serve him

shoulder to
shoulder.

10

From
beyond
the rivers of
Cush

  my
worshipers,

my
scattered
people,

will
bring me
offerings.

11

On that day

you,
Jerusalem,

will not be put
to shame

   for
all the wrongs
you have done
to me

,
because
I will remove
from
you

your
arrogant
boasters.

Never again
will you be
haughty

on my holy hill.

12

But
I will leave
within you

 the meek

and

humble.

The remnant
of Israel will trust in
the name
of

the Lord.

13

They
will do

no wrong;

   they
will tell

no lies.

A deceitful
tongue

   will not be
found

in their
mouths.

They
will eat
and lie down

 and

no one
will make
them

afraid.”

14

Sing,

Daughter
Zion;

    shout aloud,
Israel!

Be glad
and rejoice

with
all your
heart,

   Daughter
Jerusalem!

15

The Lord
has taken
away

your punishment,

   he has
turned back
your enemy.

The Lord,
the King of Israel,
is with you;

  never again
will you
fear

any harm.

16

On that day

   they
will say
to Jerusalem,

“Do not fear, Zion;

   do not let your hands
hang limp.

17

The Lord
your God is
with you,

   the Mighty Warrior
who saves.

He will take
great delight
in you;

    in his love

he
will
no longer
rebuke you,

 but

will
rejoice
over you

with singing.”

18

“I will
remove
from you all

who
mourn over
the loss of your
appointed

festivals,

    which is
a burden and
reproach for
you.

19

At that time

I will
deal
 with

all who
oppressed
you.

I will rescue
the lame;

  I will gather
the exiles.

I will
give them

praise
and honor

   in
every land
where they
have

suffered shame.

20

At that time
I will gather
you;

  at that time
I will bring you
home.

I will
give you honor
and praise

   among
all the peoples
of the earth

when
I restore your
fortunes

before
your very
eyes,”

The land is
full of adulterers;

 because of
the curse the land
lies parched

   and
the pastures
in the wilderness
are withered.

The prophets
follow an evil
course

and
use their power
unjustly.

11

“Both prophet
and priest are
godless;

  even
in my temple

I
find
their wickedness,”
declares
the Lord.

12

“Therefore
their path will
become
slippery;

they
will be
banished to
darkness

   and
there
they will fall.

I
will bring
disaster on
them

   in
the year
they are punished,”

declares
the Lord.

13

“Among
the prophets of
Samaria

    I saw this
repulsive
thing:

They
prophesied
by Baal

   and
led my
people Israel
astray.

14

And
among the prophets
of Jerusalem

  I have seen
something
horrible:

   They commit
adultery

and

live a lie.

They
strengthen
the hands of
evildoers,

  so that
not one of them
turns from their
wickedness.

They are
all like Sodom
to me;

   the
people of
Jerusalem are like
Gomorrah.”

Therefore
this is what the Lord
Almighty says

concerning
the prophets:

“I
will
make them
eat bitter food

  and
drink
poisoned
water,

because
from the prophets
of Jerusalem

   ungodliness has
spread

throughout
the land.”

16

This is
what the Lord
Almighty
says:

“Do not listen to
what the prophets are
prophesying
to you;

   they fill you
with false
hopes.

They speak
visions from
their own minds,

  not
from
the mouth of
the Lord.

17

They keep saying
to those who
despise
me,

    ‘The Lord says:
You will have
peace.

’
And to all
who follow
the stubbornness of
their hearts

 they say,

‘No
harm will
come to you.’

18

But
which of them
has stood

in
the council
of the
Lord

to
see or
to hear
his word?

    Who has
listened and
heard his word?

19

See,
the storm of
the Lord

   will
burst out
in wrath,

a whirlwind
swirling
down

 on
the heads of
the wicked.

20

The anger of
the Lord

will not
turn back

  until
he fully
accomplishes

    the
purposes of
his heart.
In days
to come

   you will
understand it
clearly.

내가
사마리아
선지자들 가운데
우매함을 보았나니

그들은
바알을 의지하고
예언하여

내 백성
이스라엘을
그릇되게 하였고

14

내가
예루살렘
선지자들 가운데도

가증한 일을
보았나니

그들은

간음을
행하며
거짓을 말하며

악을
행하는 자의 손을
강하게 하여

사람으로
그 악에서
돌이킴이 없게
하였은즉

그들은 다
내 앞에서
소돔과 다름이
없고

그 주민은
고모라와 다름이
없느니라

그러므로

만군의
여호와께서

선지자에 대하여
이와 같이
말씀하시니라

보라
내가 그들에게
쑥을 먹이며
독한 물을 마시게
하리니

이는

사악이
예루살렘
선지자들로부터
나와서

온 땅에
퍼짐이라

하시니라

만군의 여호와께서

이와 같이
말씀하시되

너희에게
예언하는 선지자들의
말을 듣지 말라

그들은
너희에게 헛된 것을
가르치나니

그들이 말한
묵시는 자기 마음으로
말미암은
것이요

여호와의
입에서 나온 것이
아니니라

항상

그들이
나를 멸시하는
자에게

이르기를

너희가
평안하리라

여호와의
말씀이니라
하며

또
자기 마음이
완악한 대로 행하는
모든 사람에게
이르기를

재앙이
너희에게 임하지
아니하리라

하였느니라

누가
여호와의 회의에
참여하여

그 말을
알아들었으며

누가
귀를 기울여
그 말을 들었느냐

19

보라

여호와의
노여움이 일어나

폭풍과
회오리바람
처럼

악인의 머리를
칠 것이라

20

여호와의 진노가

내 마음의
뜻하는 바를
행하여

이루기까지는

그치지
아니하나니

너희가
끝날에 그것을
완전히 깨달으리라
