The Beatitude  팔복

Now

when
Jesus saw
the crowds,

he
went up on
a mountainside

and
sat down.

His
disciples
came to him,

and

he began
to teach
them.

The Beatitudes

He
said:

“Blessed
are the poor in
spirit,

  for
theirs is
the kingdom of
heaven.

4

Blessed are
those who
mourn,


  for
they
will be
comforted.

5

Blessed are
the meek,

   for
they will
inherit the
earth.

6

Blessed are
those who hunger
and thirst for
righteousness,

  for
they will be
filled.

7

Blessed are
the merciful,


    for
they will be
shown
mercy.

8

Blessed are
the pure in
heart,

   for
they will
see

God.

9

Blessed are
the peacemakers,

   for
they will be
called  children of
God.

10

Blessed are
those who are
persecuted

because of
righteousness,

   for
theirs is
the kingdom of
heaven.

11

 “Blessed are
you when people
insult
you,

persecute
you

and
falsely say
all kinds of
evil

against
you

because of
me.

12

Rejoice
and be glad,

because

great is
your reward
in heaven,

for
in the same
way

they
persecuted
the prophets

who were
before
you.

거짓으로

기뻐하고 즐거워하라

하늘에서
너희의 상이
큼이라

너희 전에 있던
선지자들도

이같이
박해하였느니라

불행의 대부분은

경청할 줄 몰라서
그렇게 되는
듯

비극의 대부분은

경청하지 않아서
그렇게 되는
듯

아, 오늘처럼

경청이
필요한 때는
없는
듯

대통령이든
신이든

어른이든
애이든

아저씨든
아줌마든

무슨
소리이든지
간에

내 안팎의 소리를
경청할 줄
알면

세상이 조금은
좋아질
듯

모든 귀가 막혀 있어

우리의 행성은
캄캄하고

기가 막혀
죽어가고 있는
듯

그게
무슨 소리이든지
간에

제 이를
닦는 소리라고
하더라도

그걸 경청할 때

지평선과
우주를 관통하는
한 고요

Speak up

and judge
fairly;

  defend

the
rights of
the poor and
needy.

A wife of
noble character
who can
find?

   She is
worth far more
than rubies.

Her
husband
has full confidence
in her

  and
lacks nothing
of value.

She
brings
him good,

not harm,

all the days of
her life.

She
selects
wool and
flax

   and
works with
eager hands.

She is
like the merchant
ships,

   bringing her
food from
afar.

She
gets up
while it is
still night;

  she provides
food for her
family

 and
portions for
her female
servants.

She
considers
a field and
buys it;

  out of
her earnings

she
plants
a vineyard.

She sets
about her work
vigorously;

  her
arms are
strong for her
tasks.

She sees
that her trading is
profitable,

 and
her lamp
does not go out a
t night.

Inher hand

she
holds
the distaff

   and
grasps
the spindle
with her fingers.

She
opens
her arms to
the poor

   and
extends
her hands to
the needy.

When it snows,

she has
no fear for her
household;

   for
all of them are
clothed in
scarlet.

She makes
coverings for
her bed;

   she is
clothed in
fine linen and
purple.

Her
husband
is respected

at the city gate,

where
he takes his
seat

among
the elders of
the land.

She
makes
linen garments
and sells
them,

 and
supplies
the merchants
with sashes.

25

She is
clothed with
strength and
dignity;

she
can laugh
at the days to
come.

26

She
speaks with
wisdom,

 and
faithful
instruction is

on her tongue.

watches
over the affairs

of
her
household

 and
does not eat
the bread of
idleness.

Lord
had said
these things

to Job,

he
said to Eliphaz
the Temanite,

“I am
angry
with you and your
two friends,

because

you
have not
spoken the truth
about me,

as
my servant
Job has.

So now

take
seven bulls
and seven rams

and
go to
my servant
Job

and
sacrifice
a burnt offering

for
yourselves.

My
servant
Job will pray for
you,

and
I will accept
his prayer

and
not deal with
you

according to
your folly.

You
have not
spoken

the truth
about
me,

as
my servant

Eliphaz
the Temanite,
Bildad the Shuhite

Zophar
the Naamathite
did

what
the Lord
told them;

the Lord
accepted

Job’s prayer.

prayed for
his friends,

twice as much as
he had before.

his brothers
and sisters

who had known him
before

came
and ate with him
in his house.

comforted
