As it is written:
“I have made you
a father of
many nations.”
He is
our father
in the sight of
God,
in whom
he believed—
the God
who gives life
to the dead
and
calls into
being things
that were not.

Against all hope,
Abraham in hope
believed
and so became
the father of
many nations,
just as
it had been said
to him,
“So shall your offspring be.”

Without
weakening in
his faith,
he faced
the fact
that
his body was
as good as
dead
since
he was about
a hundred years
old
and that
Sarah’s womb was
also dead.

Yet
he did not waver
through
unbelief
regarding
the promise of
God,
but was strengthened
in his faith
and gave
glory to God,

being fully
persuaded
that
God
had power
to do
what
he had
promised.

This is why
“it was credited to him
as righteousness.”

The words
“it was credited to him”
were written
not
for him alone,

but also for us,
to whom
God will credit
righteousness—
for us
who
believe in him
who
raised
Jesus our
Lord
from the dead.

He was
delivered over
to death
for our sins
and was
raised to life
for
our
justification.

Does not
wisdom call
out?
Does not
understanding
raise her
voice?

At the highest point
along the way,
where
the paths meet,
she takes her
stand;

beside the gate
leading into
the city,
at the entrance,
she cries
aloud:

“To you,
O people,
I call out;
I
raise
my voice to
all mankind.
5
You who are
simple,
gain
prudence;
you who are
foolish,
set
your hearts
on it.

Listen,
for I have trustworthy
things to say;
I open my lips
to speak
what is right.

My mouth
speaks
what is true,
for my lips
detest
wickedness.

All the words
of my mouth are
just;

crooked or
perverse.

To the discerning
all of them are
right;
they are upright
to those who have

Choose
my instruction

listen to me;

do not disregard it.

receive favor

those who fail
to find me

비린내가 풍기는
현실의 고기가
아닐지라도
굶주린 영을
충만하게 채울 수
있는
비늘이
싱싱하게 빛나는
말씀의 생선
오른편에
그물을 던지는
자만이
믿음과 신뢰의
그물을 던지는
자만이
말씀 안에
그물을 던지는
자만이
위로와
축복으로
가득한
때로는
베드로처럼
펄펄
살아 있는
고기를
그물이 미어지게
건져올릴 수
있다.
