When Donald Trump sent masked immigration agents to Minneapolis during “Operation Metro Surge” in January, we all saw – captured on cellphone videos – ICE agents engage in countless countess acts of excessive force, violent assaults, and unconstitutional conduct in violation of the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition against unreasonable searches and seizures.
At long last, we now have our first criminal indictment of an ICE agent for crimes committed in Minneapolis back in January.
This video reviews and explains the two indictments – one in state court and one in federal court – charging former ICE agent Christian Castro with numerous crimes.

Brian traces the payments through IB Challenger, a Dubai-based entity the IBA uses for its finances after relocating operations out of Switzerland following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, an organization Brian notes is itself financially propped up by the Russian state energy giant Gazprom. Shant details Kremlev’s proximity to Vladimir Putin, including an April meeting where Putin personally awarded him Russia’s Order of Friendship, and reporting that Kremlev was spotted in China alongside Putin’s delegation just days before the wedding despite not being an official member of it.
Brian and Shant note Trump Jr. and his wife Bettina confirmed the arrangement rather than denying it, framing Kremlev as simply a personal friend, while Trump himself notably skipped his son’s wedding entirely. Shant explains why this doesn’t technically violate the Emoluments Clause, since Don Jr. holds no official government position, but argues the arrangement still functions as a valuable gift to a president’s family from a Kremlin-linked figure with no transparency requirements or reporting rules governing it. Brian’s bottom line: there are still no real guardrails on what a president’s family can accept from foreign nationals, and this story shows exactly why that gap matters.

News organizations CNN, MS NOW and Politico are suing the Trump administration over the banning of their reporters from the White House on Friday. Their credentials were confiscated or deactivated when they attempted to enter White House grounds over the weekend. Trump’s decision is “sending the message that if you write stories that are critical of the president, you’re going to lose your access,” says Katie Fallow, a deputy litigation director at Columbia University’s Knight First Amendment Institute, where she focuses on threats to freedom of speech and of the press. “The real victims of this war on the press are members of the public, which are entitled to know about what their government is doing.”
Fallow says the White House press briefing room is a “public forum” and that “the courts have said repeatedly the government is not allowed to kick people out of that forum based on their viewpoint.”
