Ephesians Chapter 6
(The apostle Paul’s letter to Ephesians) 

1

Children,

obey
your parents

in

the Lord,

for this is
right.

2

“Honor
your father and
mother”

—which

is

the first

commandment

with
a promise—

3

“so that
it may go well
with you

and that

you
may enjoy
long life

on
the earth.”

4

Fathers,

do not

exasperate

your children;

instead,

bring
them up
in the training

and

instruction of

the Lord.

5

Slaves,

obey
your earthly
masters

with
respect
and fear,

and
with sincerity of
heart,

just as
you would obey
Christ.

6

Obey them
not only to win
their favor

when
their eye is
on you,

but
as slaves of
Christ,

doing
the will of
God

from

your heart.

7

Serve

wholeheartedly,

as if
you were
serving the
Lord,

not
people,

8

because
you know that
the Lord will reward
each one

for whatever
good they
do,

whether
they are slave
or free.

9

And masters,

treat
your slaves
in the same way.

Do not

threaten

them,

since
you know that
he who is both their
Master and yours
is in heaven,

and

there is

no *favoritism

with him.

The Armor of God

Finally,

be strong

in the Lord

and

in

his mighty

power.

Put on
the full armor of
God,

so that
you can take
your stand

against

the devil’s

schemes.

12

For
our struggle

is

not

against

flesh and
blood,

but

against
the rulers,

against
the authorities,

against
the powers of
this dark world

and

against
the spiritual forces
of evil

in
the heavenly
realms.

13

Therefore

put on
the full armor of
God,

so that

when
the day of evil
comes,

you
may be able to
stand your
ground,

and after
you have done
everything,
to stand.

14

Stand firm then,

with
the belt of

truth

buckled
around your
waist,

with
the breastplate
of

righteousness

in place,

15

and

with
your feet

fitted with
the readiness

that

comes from

the gospel of

peace.

16

In addition
to all this,

take up

the shield of

faith,

with
which

you can

extinguish

all the flaming

arrows of

the evil one.

17

Take
the helmet of
salvation

and
the sword of
the Spirit,

which

is

the word

of

God.

18

And

pray

in
the Spirit

on all
occasions

with
all kinds of
prayers and
requests.

With
this in mind,

be alert

and always

keep

on praying

for
all the Lord’s
people.

19

Pray
also for me,

that
whenever
I speak,

words
may be given
me

so that
I will fearlessly
make known

the

mystery of

the gospel,

20

for which
I am an ambassador
in chains.

Pray
that I may
declare it

fearlessly,
as I should.

we have heard from him

and declare to you:

God is light;

darkness
at all.

we claim
to have fellowship
with him

and yet

walk in

the darkness,

we lie

and

do not

live out

the truth.

if we walk
in the light,

as
he is in
the light,

we have
fellowship with
one another,

and
the blood of
Jesus,

his Son,

purifies us

from

all sin.

If
we claim
to be without
sin,

we
deceive
ourselves

and
the truth
is not in us.

If
we
confess our
sins,

he is
faithful and
just

and

will

forgive us

our sins

and purify us

from all

unrighteousness.

sinned,

we make him
out to be
a liar

his word

Love is the Fulfillment of the Law

The commandments,

A Harvest of Righteousness and Peace

Hebrews 12:5-17

And

have you
completely
forgotten

this
word of
encouragement

that
addresses you
as a father

addresses
his son?

It says,

“My son,

do not make

light

of the Lord’s

discipline,

and

do not lose

heart

when
he rebukes
you,

6 

because
the Lord disciplines
the one he
loves,

and he
chastens everyone
he accepts as
his son.”

7 

Endure
hardship as
discipline;

God

is treating

you

as his children.

For
what
children are not
disciplined

by
their father?

8

 If
you are not
disciplined—

and
everyone
undergoes discipline—

then

you are not

legitimate,

not
true sons
and daughters
at all.

9 

Moreover,

we have
all had human
fathers

who
disciplined
us

and

we
respected
them
for it.

How
much more
should we
submit

to
the Father
of spirits

and live!

10 

They
disciplined us
for a little
while

as
they
thought best;

but

God
disciplined
us

for our good,

in order that
we may
share

in
his holiness.

11 

No discipline
seems
pleasant

at the time,

but
painful.
Later on,

however,

it

produces

a harvest

of

righteousness

and peace

for those
who have been
trained
by it.

12 

Therefore,

strengthen your
feeble arms

and
weak knees.

13

 “Make level paths
for your feet,”

so that
the lame may not be
disabled,

but
rather healed.

Warning and Encouragement

14 

Make
every effort
to live in
peace

with
everyone

and
to be holy;

without
holiness

no one
will see the
Lord.

15 

See to it
that no one falls
short of the grace
of God

and that

no
bitter root

grows up
to cause
trouble

and defile
many.

16 

See that
no one is sexually
immoral,

or is godless
like Esau,

who
for a single
meal

sold
his inheritance
rights

as
the oldest
son.

17 

Afterward,

as
you know,

when
he wanted
to

inherit this
blessing,

he was
rejected.

Even though

he sought

the blessing

with tears,

he could not
change

what
he had done.

징계하시고

징계를 받기
위함이라

아들과 같이

징계는
다 받는 것이거늘

사생자요

친아들이
